The reasons of a hair loss

Although the main reason of hair loss is genetic, age, physical traumas and medical treatments can also cause it. The important thing is to apply the most accurate treatment after determining the cause of hair loss.

Hair loss In Men

Androgenetic Alopecia is the most common cause of hair loss in men. The male hormone testosterone interacts with the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme in the hair bud (capillary bulb) and turns into dihydrotesterone (DHT). DHT leads to thinning, low density and eventual loss of hair.

Hair loss In Women

Hair loss in women can progress due to various reasons. As in men, the most common cause of hair loss in women is the level of androgen hormone. Other reasons are;

Pregnancy, giving birth, birth control pills and thyroid diseases are also factors that stimulate hair loss in women. Anemia and low blood iron levels. Tying the hair back tightly for many years (traction)

Understanding the factors that cause hair loss in women is the most important step. For this reason, blood and hormone test results are requested from the patient before deciding on hair transplantation.

Who can undergo a hair transplant?

Your suitability for hair transplant operation is evaluated by our expert team after your application.

Primarily, we check whether your general health status is in a condition that will not prevent hair transplantation. Then, considering your donor area capacity, we check the transplant area. If this ratio is aesthetically satisfactory, you can undergo a hair transplant.

What should I expect from a hair transplant?

A successful hair transplant should be evaluated according to the condition of each patient. Considering factors such as the capacity of the donor area and the size of the recipient area, the patient's age and hair thickness, it should be studied to achieve the most natural appearance possible.

How is hair transplant performed?

Although the methods in hair transplant operation vary, they are all based on the same principle. In its simplest definition, the hair follicles taken from the donor area are placed in the canals opened to the transplantation area.

Donor area is the area on the back of your head – between two ears and a "graft" is the term for the strip of skin containing hair.

As a first step, the grafts are taken one by one from the donor area where local anesthesia is applied. These grafts are divided into groups according to the number of hairs they contain.

If the operation is performed with the FUE method, after local anesthesia is applied to the recipient area, canals are opened with sapphire blades. As the last step, the grafts taken from the donor area are placed one by one into the opened canals. Single unit follicles are placed on the front line for a natural appearance.

In the application of the DHI method, the grafts taken from the donor area are placed in implanter pen called ‘’choi pen’. In this way, the incisions and implanting are made at the same time.

The operation takes between 6-8 hours depending on the follicle amount, including all stages.

How is the recovery after a hair transplant?

In order for the hair transplant to be successful, it is necessary to follow the doctor's recommendations about the post-operative process. Hair care, correct use of the given drugs and situations to be avoided should be taken into account.

At the end of the procedure the donor area is bandaged, and it is recommended to rest on the next day. First wash should be done 2 days after the operation and the bandage will be removed. Following this day, you should wash your hair every day as described for a month. In addition, the scabs in the planting area should be shed on the 10th washing.

In order to avoid sweating and the risk of infection by bacteria, activities like sports, swimming and sauna should be avoided for 1 month.

Shock loss in the transplanted area in the first 3 months is normal. From the 4th month, the your hair grows back and the hair density gradually increases. It takes 12-18 months to achieve the final form.

Hair Transplant Side Effects

Hair transplantation is not a risky procedure as long as it is performed by an expert team and in a hospital environment.

Medications used regularly, allergies and disease history of the patient should be taken into consideration before the operation.

Possible side effects observed after hair transplantation can be listed as follows:

Bleeding in the donor area: A small amount of bleeding may occur under the bandage. It is normal and expected.

Edema: Swelling and edema may be seen on the face area in the first 2 days after hair transplant. Although there is no cause for concern, it goes away within a 1 week, following the recommendations of our surgeon.

Necrosis: means the death of scalp tissue in a particular area.

This very rare and risky complication can be controlled with the experience of ISESTA physicians. The main causes of this symptom are frequent and incorrectly opened canals, the amount of medications injected under the skin, and the occurrence of infection on the scalp. In addition, conditions such as long-term smoking, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases also increase this risk.

Itching: This side effect may be observed in the first 2 weeks following the operation. Although it increases with the crusting in the planting area, it does not bother the patient for a long time.

Shock Loss: This temporary situation, which is mostly observed in the recipient area, is very. It is usually observed between the first 1-3 months, but then it heals.
