What is DHI Hair Transplant (Direct Hair Implant)?
An alternative method to FUE, DHI (Direct Hair Implant) was developed at Korea National University and is also known as Implanter Pen or CHOI hair transplant. As the name signifies, it is based on implanting the extracted hair follicles directly one by one to the recipient area with an implanter pen.

Although DHI is introduced as a completely different method by many clinics, the FUE technique is used during the extraction phase. As a second step, each graft is placed into the implanter/choi pen in order to be implanted in the recipient area.
The most important difference of this method is that canal opening and planting stages are performed together. DHI method is recommended for small recipient areas in patients who prefer to have the hair transplant without shaving and implantation in between existing hairs.
