What is breast reduction?

Can I have breast reduction surgery?
You are eligible for breast reduction if you are over 18 and do not have problems with anesthesia, with no previous complication.
What are the risks of breast reduction surgery?
Possible risks of this surgical operation include infection, bleeding, risks related to anesthesia, hypertrophic scars, long-term pain, deformities in the breast area, change in skin color, permanent change in pigmentation, swelling and purple spots. Tendons, blood vessels, muscles and lungs may be damaged, a stinging sensation in the chest, the potential to be unable to breastfeed, loss of sensation may occur. What should I do before the operation?
We recommend that you stop smoking and drinking alcohol 2 weeks before the operation. As a preventive measure, you should also stop taking any medicine.
Additional medical examinations and tests will be carried out before the operation, which will last about 2-3 hours under general anesthesia.

The operation starts with the incisions. Information about the detailed performance of the surgery will be shared with the patient before the operation.

What can I expect after the operation?
After the surgery is performed, the wound is dressed and covered with a bandage. You will use an elastic bandage or a supportive bra to minimize swelling and shape the breast as it heals.
The doctor will explain in detail what you need to consider after you are discharged from the hospital. Following your doctor's advice will speed up the healing process.
Healing period
You may feel swelling, bruising and pain immediately after the operation. All of this can be controlled with medication. It is recommended to wear a sports bra for 1 month after the operation.
The swelling and bruising go away after the first week. However, you will need to be consistent and wait 6 months to see the final results on your breasts.
Most patients return to work within the first week after the surgery. If your work requires physical activity, you should wait for several weeks before returning.
